He started practicing yoga in Caracas, Venezuela in 1999. Until 2008 he had the opportunity to study Vinyasa Yoga, Ashtanga Yoga and Iyengar Yoga under the guidance of different yoga instructors.



Cristi Christensen is shaking the world of yoga by integrating yoga and dance with live house DJ music during her invigorating “Deep Exhale“ events.



Heiress of the lineage of Larry Shultz, Ana Forrest and Sri Dharma Mittra, her goal is to guide others so that they can also experience the many amazing benefits of yoga on the body, mind and soul.



Alvise started practicing yoga in 2007. During his first years of practice, he was able to practice with international teachers, particularly interested in ‘Ashtanga Vinyasa Yoga and the practice of Dharma Yoga. With Andrei Ram he began his journey in Hatha Raja Yoga, developing a deep interest in his spiritual and cultural roots.



Devoted disciple of Sri Dharma Mittra, Fabio learns directly from his spiritual guide, practicing daily and sharing Hatha Yoga classes and workshops. Fabio’s curiosity drove him to travel extensively to remote regions of the world, to find inspiration from people and cultures,

With a multidisciplinary training, he has understood the need to learn different disciplines and styles of yoga to be able to adapt yoga to the diverse needs of his students.



Devoted practitioner and teacher of Hatha Raja and Kriya Yoga, dedicates her life completely to spiritual practices and to transmit the knowledge of healing through Yoga and Meditation.



Vladimir started yoga in his teens and draws from his 20 plus years of practice in the Iyengar yoga method and yoga based therapy and is known for his effective demonstrations and a way of delivering essential bites of information in a friendly and accessible way.



Sandra teaches the primary, intermediate and opening part of the third series of Ashtanga Vinyasa Yoga. She has been practicing yoga since 2001, studying Ashtanga Vinyasa Yoga with John Scott since 2002 and teaching since 2007.

¿Cuáles son los beneficios mentales del yoga?

Tras revisar las numerosos beneficios que el yoga tiene sobre nuestro organismo a nivel físico, nos planteamos resumir las ventajas que la práctica habitual suele implicar a nivel mental. A continuación repasamos algunos de los beneficios generalmente consensuados entre la comunidad científica.

Aumenta la sensación de felicidad y de motivación

Tal como ocurre con otras actividades físicas, la ciencia ha demostrado que el yoga contribuye a liberar endorfinas, hormonas que producen que nos sintamos mejor. En este sentido, algunas investigaciones han comprobado que la práctica regular del yoga ayuda a pacientes con depresión clínica a disminuir significativamente sus episodios de ansiedad y depresión.

Cuando practicamos yoga, se produce un aumento de la dopamina y la oxitocina, sustancias directamente implicadas en nuestra sensación de felicidad, lo que nos ayuda a sentirnos más relajados y preparados para gestionar mejor cualquier situación estresante que se nos presente.

Mejora la concentración

La sincronización de asanas con la respiración y los ejercicios de pranayama y meditación contribuyen a incrementar la capacidad de concentración y agilidad mental, según estudios basados en la ejecución de desafíos mentales después de la práctica del yoga.

Reduce el estrés

Comentado ya en el post dedicado a los beneficios físicos, vale la pena incidir en la íntima relación que existe entre la práctica del yoga y la disminución de cortisol en nuestro cerebro, hormona ligada al estrés y a los estados de nervios. Incluso después de una sola sesión de yoga, se han llegado a tomar muestras que demuestran una reducción de los niveles de cortisol.

Incrementa la memoria y la capacidad de aprendizaje

Algunas investigaciones defienden que después de una práctica mantenida durante meses aumenta la densidad de la materia gris en el hipocampo del cerebro, un tejido asociado con la función del procesamiento de la información, es decir, con la función del razonamiento.

En opinión de los investigadores, la densidad de esta parte de la mente lleva a aumentar nuestra conciencia y a mejorar tanto la memoria como la capacidad de aprendizaje.

Nos empuja a ser más conscientes

Este es seguramente el beneficio decisivo y más importante de la práctica del yoga y que convierte a esta disciplina en una ciencia de vida que va mucho más allá de una actividad física. Ciertamente, muchos centros venden el yoga como un producto de consumo que nos va a dar atributos de los que carecemos para ser más felices: salud, fuerza, flexibilidad, equilibrio, atractivo físico, fama, invulnerabilidad, eficiencia, seguridad y un largo etcétera.

Sin embargo, y aunque es verdad que el yoga proporciona o hace despertar muchas virtudes nuevas, nosotros preferimos centrarnos en un enfoque que mira hacia el autoconocimiento, hacia la conexión con uno mismo y, finalmente, hacia la aceptación de la vida tal como es.

Así, también puedes ver el yoga como una práctica que te quitará o que te hará descubrir muchas cosas por ti mismo. Por ejemplo, te puede ayudar a descubrir que quizás nunca has mirado realmente hacia tu interior y que quizás no te gusta lo que ves la primera vez, que te esfuerzas por conseguir cosas que quizás nunca te has planteado si las necesitas, que hay preguntas que te aterra plantearte, que quizás eres mucho más vulnerable de lo que querrías, que tienes puntos débiles que no paras de esconder sin que sea necesario, que la compasión es la única forma de amor verdadero que hay o que puedes encontrar la plenitud absoluta en el simple hecho de existir.
